Tucked away in the Akrofoa Electoral Area, Offinso North District, Ashanti Region of Ghana, lies Yeboakrom, a village of about 1,000 people. Despite its vibrant culture and the resilience of its residents, Yeboakrom faces challenges that no community should endure. My recent visit to this village with the Global Aid Partners (GAP) team opened our eyes to the harsh realities of life here and deepened our commitment to driving meaningful change.
Yeboakrom at a Glance
Yeboakrom is a stark reminder of rural Ghana’s urgent need for sustainable development. The struggles here are overwhelming:
No Potable Water: The village has no clean water source. Residents, including women and children, walk miles daily to fetch water from contaminated streams, putting them at constant risk of waterborne diseases.
No School: Education is a distant dream for the children of Yeboakrom. Without school in the village, they must trek long distances to neighboring communities to attend classes. Many give up entirely, leaving their potential untapped.
No Toilet Facilities: Open defecation is the norm due to the absence of proper sanitation facilities. This creates a cycle of poor hygiene, disease, and community health crises.
No Electricity: The village remains in total darkness at night, limiting opportunities for education, safety, and economic growth.
Stories That Touched Our Hearts
We met Kwame, a 10-year-old boy with bright eyes and a shy smile. Kwame dreams of becoming a teacher, but the absence of a school in his village threatens his future. Like many children in Yeboakrom, he spends his days fetching water and helping his family on the farm instead of learning in a classroom.
Ama, a mother of three, shared her struggles with us. She described how the lack of clean water and sanitation leads to frequent illnesses for her children, often leaving her feeling helpless. “We just want a chance for our children to grow up healthy and educated,” she told us, her voice filled with emotion.
Our Commitment to Yeboakrom
At GAP, we envision a world where every community can access water, education, sanitation, and electricity. We aim to collaborate directly with communities like Yeboakrom to understand their unique challenges and co-create sustainable solutions.
Our first project focuses on addressing the most urgent need: clean water. We plan to construct four boreholes to provide safe drinking water for the entire village. But our vision goes beyond water. Together with donors and partners, we aim to:
Build a school to ensure that children like Kwame can pursue their dreams.
Construct toilet facilities to improve sanitation and reduce disease.
Bring electricity to Yeboakrom to light up homes and open up opportunities for economic growth.

The people of Yeboakrom do not want luxuries. They want clean water, education, sanitation, and light. Together, we can give this village the tools it needs to thrive.
Let us rewrite the story of Yeboakrom, one borehole, one school, one toilet, and one lightbulb at a time. Your support will bring hope to Yeboakro and transform it into a community where dreams and lives can flourish.
